So the weather is nasty and I had a day to kill so I picked this book to read. I have read Kate Angell's baseball series and liked them so I bought this one knowing ahead of time that it would be a good book. But it was better than good! It was funny and sexy then it was so sweet it made my heart melt. These two characters were made for each other and I loved the way they came together. What a great story...just simple, and pure chemistry. The side stories of Kai and Nichole and Dune and Sophie only added more. Kate Angell is good at this mix with her secondary characters. Dune and Sophie get their own story in another book. I ordered it too but have yet to begin to read it. I know it will be good...it's a Kate Angell book!Tags : No Tan Lines (Barefoot William Beach) [Kate Angell] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Light easy read but tells a good story. Am from the coast so love books like this. I take my iPad to the cottage and real all weekend. This couple found each other after they were grown and had good settled lives
The story was enjoyable but wasn't believable to me. They left characters just out there and did not finish their story line, Like the cousin and the girl. It was a passable story but not one that I would recommend to others.
No Tan Lines is a departure from baseball for Kate Angell, but it is a homerun! Just really loved this book and all the characters in it. Trace and Shaye are perfect for each other, even if it took me a while to warm up to Trace. The secondary romance of Kai and Nicole worked too. Although, I didn't care for the way Nicole and Trace had such a casual affair before coming to Barefoot William. I didn't feel too bad about the way I felt because Kai had to work his way through the problem too. With this debut novel the series promises to be a another "hit" for Ms. Angell. Lots of fun characters who stick together as family during good and bad times. Hope I don't have to wait a year to find out about Dune and Sophie. It's awful to be kept in suspense too long! Read it; you'll enjoy it too!
This is part of my beach read kick. The writing was fine. It was a little frustrating when it almost seemed to switch to a different book around 50%. Suddenly characters who had been extremely minor up to that point became the focus but had no resolution in the end. That was weird.
Sexual content penetrative sex in print
Language infrequent (rare) f-bomb used
The 1st book in the Barefoot William trilogy is a sweet hot romance. The 100 year feud separates the towns of Barefoot William and Saunders Shore. Shaye Cates is responsible for Barefoot Williams and the welfare of her family. She is sunshine and sand. Trace Saunders is the CEO of Saunders Shore and he is buttoned down and uptight. How will they work together to put on a volleyball tournament Shaye needs to help the bottom line of Barefoot William and save her family's summer profits.
This story was good and I enjoyed it very much. However, I felt there were things left out. There's no reason to start a story line and then leave it unfinished. Other than that it was really nice to read about Shaye Cates and Trace Saunders. For a century the two families have been enemies but when circumstances bring Shaye and Trace to work together they can't help it when sparks fly. The more time they spend together the more they learn about each other and realize that the animosity between their families might not be strong enough to keep them apart when they fall in love.
I liked the book and will read the second but my only problem was the author spent to much time on secondary characters in this book. I almost forgot whose story this was when it got switched to Dune and Sophie. I never mind when there are secondary characters but I do believe to much of the story was spent on them. Then it came back to the main characters and they felt rushed to show a connection and an end to their store. The secondary characters have their own story so I don't see why she put so much into their set up. Was a good story just wish there was more to the main characters store then the others.
