This Girl A Novel Slammed Book 3 edition by Colleen Hoover Literature Fiction eBooks

I loved the first 2 Slammed books, but was somewhat disappointed in this last one. Why? Nothing really new happens (until the last 2 pages anyway). It is almost entirely a rehash of most of what happened in the first 2 books (the majority from book 1), only from Will's point of view. Nothing was a big surprise for me. I kind of "got" the feelings they both had, so there weren't any big, ohhh, so that's what he was thinking there, moments. I really did love the first books so it wasn't terrible to rehash everything that happened, it's just that I read the books back to back to back, so everything was really fresh in my mind.
I think I would have liked this more if it had been from Lake's point of view (Slammed was my favorite of the series, and I relate more to female narrators, being a female). Another thing I would have liked would be flashbacks of something we really weren't privy too, which was the majority of Julia's illness, her hospital stay, how the relationship between Lake /Will and Lake/Julia and even Will/Julia was navigated while she was really sick.
That being said, as a fan of the first 2 books it's definitely worth reading this one, just don't expect a ton of new developments until the very, very end.

This Girl A Novel Slammed Book 3 edition by Colleen Hoover Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

As I am reading this through in Will’s POV I am noticing Julia is being VERY selfish where Lake is concerned, and don’t get me wrong I understand where she is coming from she is dying and wants to spend as much time with her family as she can before she dies BUT knowing how Will AND Lake feel about one another and she has felt the need to guilt Will into staying away from Lake.
It’s not right of her to do that to either one of them…granted Will has a great reason to stay away being her teacher and all but that still doesn’t give Julia a right to manipulate the situation to suit her own means no matter what is going on.
With that being said I think in the situations Will was put in he did what he thought was right every time and I commend him for that even though it was hard sometimes and he made mistakes he always tried to fix what he fudged up.

I do love how it flips between Will’s POV of Slammed and then to the present with the honeymoon. It reminds me of Remy by Katy Evans…like that book this one feels like its own book versus being the sam book only in a different POV. It makes it very easy to read but also a quick read. I have literally been devouring this book today when I get the chance to read without distraction.

Reading the fight scene from Will’s POV makes everything even more intense with this scene, because he inadvertently did the right thing without knowing it. He was being completely selfless by telling his superior about the fight even though it could have meant his job. Even though he DIDN’T know that Javi was forcing himself on Lake he STILL went to his superior to turn himself in for what he thought happened when in actuality he was saving her.

“He’s lying to both of you because he thinks you’re still nine years old. A honeymoon is when newlyweds have sex, traditionally for the first time. But in some cases,” she rolls her head toward Gavin, “people get ahead of themselves.”
SO Kiersten I think is one of my favorite characters of all time! She cracks me up, and I kind of what to read more about her. (*hint, hint* to the author)

After reading the last page of this story I am left wanting more of this series…I want to see Caulder and Kel as well as Kiersten. I want them to have their stories too BUT as much as I want them to have their stories and as much as I DON’T want this series to end…I absolutely LOVED how this series did end. I have been staying away from the Young Adult genre lately because honestly the way the books are written have been boring me lately but this series (I would definitely consider this a YA) was AMAZING! The issues the characters were faced with were REAL issues, things that can and DO happen every day, and that is one thing I absolutely love about Colleen Hoover’s writing…she writes about things that are believable. She also writes about things that others seem to shy away from and the emotions her writing evokes when you read her books is not only infuriating but it’s also the greatest gift that an author can give a reader. So as a reader I want to say thank you for writing such a great series.
Normally, I would not give a book a 3 star review. This book, however, seemed to deserve it. The writing was not bad and the descriptions were great! However, I paid $7.99 for a book that I felt I had already read before. I think that is an exorbitant amount of money for a book that I have already been mostly exposed to! Now, maybe, $3-4.99 but not $7.99! I hoped that the end would make up for it. However, I think too much was skipped just to finish the book. It would have been really nice to see Kel and Caulder's reactions to seeing the baby the first day. To know from Will's POV what it was like to decorate the nursery for his and Lake's baby! Just more suck than sweet for me, unlike the books, but still a fine read
Let me start off by saying that I loved the first two novels of the Slammed series, and I love the Slammed series as a whole. However, this third book just wasn't quite as magical as the first two. This book is basically just a retelling of the first novel through Will's point of view, as him and Layken look back on their relationship while on their honeymoon. While I did enjoy getting to get inside Will's head a little bit on certain aspects of the story, I just didn't think it was all necessary. Some stuff I could gather from the first novel anyway, so I didn't really need to hear Will straight up say it again. I also felt like a lot of the novel was just Will going all ga-ga over Layken, which is sweet to an extent, but it got to be excessive. In this final book of the series, I would have much rather read about Layken and Will's life as a married couple and seen how Kel and Caulder were doing, as well as Eddie and Gavin. The last little bit when Will and Layken return from their honeymoon is probably my favorite part, because I got to see their new life together as husband and wife, and check in on Eddie and Gavin and their story as well. So, I still gave this book 3 stars because I did still enjoy it and the little bits of new information that I got. I just really wish it hadn't been solely a retelling because it just felt like rereading the first book. The epilogue was probably the most redeeming part and it melted my heart. I would have loved to see more of that type of thing in the novel and while it was satisfactory in a way, I wish I could have seen more of how Will and Layken would do after that new development in their life. So overall, it wasn't my favorite ending book of a series, but it still had its redeeming qualities, and I loved the series as a whole so much that I think it helped balance out the last novel. I still love Colleen Hoover and plan on reading all of her other books.
